fellow fic writers, i’m curious - what do you find the most challenging part of the writing process??

the whole actually making yourself sit down to write bit

writing smut scenes

maintaining a distinctive atmosphere/theme throughout chaptered works

writing conversations

the universally dreaded editing process

fitting any bits you’ve written non chronologically into the overall flow

too many ideas, too little time to write them all

the unending fight against perfectionism/imposter syndrome

the terrifying ordeal of being seen (sharing your work with others)

something else in the tags

the sitting down and doing it part i find i often can write ~100 words if just start writing sure i'll edit most of it but at least it's there idk why i put it off bc i like writing it's just become a Big Important Thing in my mind so it requires some effort i need to work on that

Shout-out to Ao3 for not only being transparent in the work they're doing to try to get the site running, but for IMMEDIATELY calling out any islamophobia. They're doing fucking WORK rn, all on a volunteer basis, and while most of the comments I've seen are far and away supportive I just know whoever is in charge of their socials is watching the comments section unfold with a migraine.


Anyway this is all to say I love Ao3 and the people working on it rn are dealing with absolute chaos, so the next time someone throws out a line about "why do they need a fundraiser every year" please remember today.
